I took this photo of my daughter in Vancouver, BC just off of Broadway and Clark. There was a rock that was perfect for her to sit on.Time
On Saturday May 22, 2010 my 7 year old daughter and I had been visiting my Mom. I brought my camera with me as I knew that after the visit I wanted to take some pictures of my daughter. Just before 1:30 we left my Mom's place and at the end of the block there was this rock that was perfect for her to sit on. She hoped on the rock and struck the pose all by herself without any help from myself. This is absolutely my most favorite picture of my daughterLighting
With taking this photo outside it was all natural light. It was a cloudy day so there was no sun or shade at that time to ruin the image. Since seeing the results of this photo, taking pictures on a cloudy day is now my preferenceEquipment
I used the only piece of photography equipment that I owned at that time....my Sony Alpha 200. This was also my very first digital camera too!Inspiration
I had wanted to take a really nice picture of my daughter so she "dressed up" her good jeans and new farm sweater. And of course the picture just wouldn't have been the same without her PuppyEditing
I really did not do any editing to the photo. I just zoomed in and took the picture. I always prefer taking a picture and not having to edit it.In my camera bag
As I still don't have a lot of camera equipment I normally have my Nikon D3100 and my two lens (18 - 55 mm & 55 - 200 mm). I am hoping in the near future to be able to add to the equipment that I currently haveFeedback
There are a few things to consider when taking a picture like this. You need to consider the lightening and the environment for the type of image you are trying to create. I wanted the natural light with the trees in the background. You also need to consider the subject you are shooting and what they would be with, such as the surroundings and what they are wearing). Make them feel comfortable and listen to what they need and want too. It will make the entire process much more enjoyable for everyone involved
