Location
This image of a giant tortoise was captured on my honeymoon on the Galapagos Islands in 2007. The Galapagos are a photographer's dream. Wherever you go, you are literally tripping over the most exotic wildlife, and they have absolutely no fear of humans. Kudos to the Ecuadorians for their stewardship of this paradise. No-one is allowed to land on the islands except in organized tours accompanied by government naturalists. We saw overflights daily by the Ecuadorian navy ensuring compliance.Time
The expedition ship we were on did two landings per day. We were ferried ashore on Zodiacs. This image was captured about 9am.Lighting
Available lightEquipment
Shot with available light on my vacation camera (Nikon D40) with a 200mm zoom.Inspiration
The incredible thing about Galapagos wildlife is how they are as curious about you as you are about them. You can see that in the eyes.Editing
A little dodging and burning, some sharpening. That's about it.In my camera bag
Usually I carry a camera body (these days a D750 or D810), a 24-70mm f2.8 and a 70-200 f2.8. Additional primes if I think I'll need them. A 14-24mm if I'm shooting landscapes.Feedback
Travel to the Galapagos!!!
