Location
I took this during one of my trips to London. I currently live abroad in Vienna but frequently visit friends and family as I'm originally from there.Time
This was taken around sunset from the classic spot opposite. I often revisit this location when I am in London as you can get very different lighting, sometimes with clouds, sometimes even with almost perfect reflections in the water.Lighting
Sunset, sunrise and the blue hour are my favourite times for taking pictures. I love having colourful skies and also being able to take long exposures such as in this image.Equipment
This was taken with a Canon 6D, 24-105mm lens, tripod, camera remote, and a 10 stop filter to allow longer exposures.Inspiration
I really wanted to get a nice long exposure shot of London during sunset. I have been to this spot many times for day shots but wanted to get something a bit different for my collection.Editing
This was actually two shots, an 18 sec and another at 109 sec so as to capture detail in both the shadows and the highlights but also whilst using my ND filter. I then merged them and did some tweeks in Lightroom. In my camera bag
In my bag I always carry spare batteries which are ultra important especially if you are taking long exposures (You don't want to run out of juice when you have good light). I also have cleaning equipment for my lens, lenses with different focal lengths and a camera remote for taking bulb mode shots.Feedback
You may not always be lucky in London to get a good sunset or sunrise but keep heading out and sooner or later you will. And when you do it's a satisfying prize to have in your image collection. :)
