Location
Butterfly World, Paarl area, Western Cape, South AfricaTime
We made our way to Butterfly World quite early as to avoid the tourist rush. As there were not many butterflies (due to the breeding cycle), we were looking everywhere to find them. This Iguana was basking in the sun on top of a roof inside the containment area. I had the macro lens on - so could really get the scales to pop right out at you.Lighting
The sunlight from behind me was ample.Equipment
Canon 70D, 300mm Telephoto/Macro Sigma LensInspiration
What a beautiful, pre-historic creature!!Editing
Minimal changes to light balanceIn my camera bag
2 x Canon camera's, 50mm, variety of other lenses up to 400mm - mostly Sigma & Canon. Speed Flash, memory cards, spare battery pack.Feedback
Get in close enough to take the shot. Rather risk loosing it than taking it from afar.
