Behind The Lens
Location
My mother takes a lot of pride in her garden in Heswall, England, and I often help out with general up-keeping. One morning I stumbled across this beautiful flower and couldn't resist capturing it.Time
This was a particularly bright and sunny day in North England. The sun doesn't shine much in the United Kingdom, therefore, I felt that I should not let this opportunity slide. At around 13.45, at peak sun, this purple beauty came into full view.Lighting
The accentuated sunlight increased the contrast between the petals and the lines adding to the vibrancy of the picture.Equipment
This was shot with a Canon EOS 100D, with a basic 18-55mm lens.Inspiration
My mother often discusses the beauty of her garden with her friends. I wished that she be able to express it's beauty through both words and pictures.Editing
This photo is completely unedited, which makes this shot all the more amazing given the sharp contrast between the lines on the petal and the petal itself. In my camera bag
I tend to live quite a simple life when it comes to photography. I only have one basic 18-55mm lens that always remains attached to the main bod of my camera. I then have 2 spare SD cards just in case.Feedback
Having photographed flowers for about 2 years now, I find that natural light is the best for nature photography. Artificial light tends to diminish the beauty of the subject. After all 'nature' should be captured with 'natural light'.
