Behind The Lens

Location

Photo was taken in Tvrdja, the ancient old core of Croatian city Osijek.

Time

It was just past the magic hour, around 8 o'clock in the evening and beginning to get dark, but lovely warm glow of old city lamps was flickering about.

Lighting

It was taken without any kind of flash. The warm glow of the old towns lanterns was setting the mood just right; a bit like 19th century London or some European city...

Equipment

It was my old trustworthy canon 450D, shot from my hand.

Inspiration

We were walking through the old city which is more then 1500 year old and has it's specific charm. A friend was sort of a spontaneous model, incorporated into the various streets, corners... The old city Tvr?a is an inspiration in itself, especially when the night falls and the lanterns start glowing across very old houses, churches and streets paved with old tiny blocks, millions of them...

Editing

The photo was processed. Apart from black&white it was added some contrast and a bit of light HDR effect in Photoshop.

In my camera bag

I have my canon 450D with three lenses. 50 mm 1.8, Tamron 70-300 mm and Canon 10-18mm extra wide lens. Very modest equipment, but such is our standard of living :)

Feedback

Walk, opserve, breathe and scenes always reveal themself. Carry a camera and don't be lazy to explore the sights, especially in dawn and sunset...they don't call it magic hour for nothing. :)
