Behind The Lens

Location

This was shot at the Pelican pond of the Singapore's Jurong Bird Park in the west.

Time

It was shot in the evening at 6.15pm where the sky was still bright. The park closes at 6 daily. Last visitor leaves by 7pm.

Lighting

The pelican was doing self grooming when this was taken. Pelican does a lot of self grooming, and I sneak up behind him with my long lens and took this shot as he was too busy cleaning up.

Equipment

It was my trial of the then new Nikon D7200 which I eventually sold away. I did not like the way the camera work and the interface.

Inspiration

I noticed that the pelican is a very feathery bird and loves grooming. From behind they look amazing., The feather and all.

Editing

Just simply colour levelling and brightness adjustments. Also touch up a little of the darkened background.

In my camera bag

Now I carry my favourite camera, the Sony a7M2 everywhere for all my shoot. Its reliable and trustworthy and easy to use. Fitted with 24-240mm lens, I can shoot almost anything.And also my Nikon Coolpix P900 for all the garnets; all-purpose shoot.
