Location
This picture was taken on the west bank of the Trinity River levee in Dallas, Texas.Time
I took this picture during the sunset "magical hour"Lighting
Dallas had been getting rain for nearly every day of the Month of May that year. Normally, the Trinity river is only about 30-40 feet across. A sort of levee has been built and I would guess it is about 100-150 yards wide. Every 5 years or so that things fills up and it makes for some amazing images. In fact, it has stopped raining about 40 minutes before I took this picture so the sky was really clean. The only downside, the mosquitoes were really hungry and decided I was the all they could eat buffet.Equipment
I used a Canon EOS REBEL T2i with a tripod and a Cannon 50 mm lens. I set the camera at a f/13.0, ISO 100, and the shutter speed was at 25/10.Inspiration
I've always admired what other photographers have done with this very infrequent event, so I really did not want to miss my opportunity. The thing that I always like was the way the lights on the buildings play off the water, and how the ripples in the water distort the image so you can clearly distinguish between the original and the mirrored part of the image.Editing
I did some Photoshop work, mostly increasing the contrast and messing the "curves".In my camera bag
My bag has a Cannon 16-35 mm, a 24-70 mm, and a 50mm. When I am feeling particularly butch, I throw my Cannon 100-400 in there. I also carry a 24mm Holga pinhole lens.Feedback
Take lots of bug spray.
