I took this photo at Camp Smith in Peekskill N.Y., During the north east regional ROTC Ranger challenge. One of the skills each team needed to demonstrate was the ability to make a one rope bridge over a body of water then use it to get across. I took this shot of theman assigned to wade/swim across bringing the rope with himTime
This shot was taken about 1230 in the afternoonLighting
Its an all natural light shot. Just the way the sun was shining on the water and on him was excellentEquipment
I shot the photo using a Canon 1ds with a canon ef 100-400 Lseries zoom set at about 300mm with an f stop of 6.3 and a shutter speed of 1/320th of a sec. handheld no tripod and just a skylight filterInspiration
I was there doing photos for the Ranger challenge. My girlfriends son was in the rotc and part of the challenge. I was doing photos of his teamEditing
The only post processing I did to the photo was to convert it to black and white using adobe photo shop cs 6 extendedIn my camera bag
I have a back pack full . Just because I never know what Im going to see. Along with the canon !DS I have a Canon 5D. A couple flashes tripod and mono pod..Feedback
Sometimes finding the perfect spot to take a shot from is paramount. In this case I was able to watch several teams doing the excersize so I was able to scout out the perfect spot for a great shot Correct angles for natural light no distractions in the background and a good stable place to shoot from
