This photo was taken at the Mercer Arboretum & Botanic Gardens in Houston.Time
It was probably around 11:30 a.m.Lighting
We were lucky that the day we picked turned out to be partly cloudy. Although it was close to noon, the light wasn't harsh at all. I also didn't have any lighting equipment so I just used natural lighting.Equipment
For this photo I used my Canon T4i body with a Canon EF 24-105mm f/4L IS USM lens.Inspiration
Both my friend and I loved playing in our school orchestra, so we wanted to incorporate music and her instrument, the viola, into her senior pictures. We saw a nice grass area while walking around and figured we would photograph her by her viola and some favorite pieces she's played in the past.Editing
I did some post-processing to make the photo look more vibrant and make the notes show better on the music sheets. I also had to remove little parts that were showing of a towel we used to keep her dress from getting dirty and wet.In my camera bag
I usually shoot using a Canon T4i with a Canon EF 40mm f/2.8 STM lens. If I need a lens that can zoom in and out for some flexibility, I would use the Canon EF-S 18-55mm f/3.5-5.6 IS II lens that was included in the kit I bought.Feedback
It was really fun trying to take a photo with the subject lying on the ground. It was important that this was taken on a cloudy day as it provided enough light, but didn't give the subject any unwanted shadow.
