This photo was taken in the evening after the ceremony.Lighting
The lighting was very low, but the couple had decorated with Christmas lights that added a nice ambiance to the wedding reception.Equipment
Canon 5D Mark ii, 24-105L f/4 series lens. No tripod, No Flash. Settings are: ISO: 2500, F.4, 35mm.Inspiration
Honestly during the first dance I was taking lots of shots from eye level and from above. Then I decided I need to have more of the decorations evolved and went down to the flower to get a different angle. It worked out really well for this shot. I tend to look for angles that most people wouldn't try. Sometimes the results are more than expected.Editing
Lightroom. Other than adding a black and white treatment. I boosted the exposure and clarity some. Had to do some fine adjustments for highlights and contrast to help punch the white/black balance. In my camera bag
2 Canon cameras- 5D mark ii, 60D. Several lens options. 50mm f1.4, 24-105mm L f4 , 70-200mm Lf/2.8, 16-35mm f.2.8,Feedback
The only advice I might have is this. When shooting an event, for me at least, I always look for the unexpected shot. An angle that is commonly seen in an event such as this. That one shot that may or may not work? In many cases I've had angles that aren't normally done that just don't work. In this photo however, it is one of my favorite wedding photos I've ever taken. I think personal growth in photography is taking those extra steps that help make you more creative. Pushing myself to try and do new things is one of the great joys I have for photography. Your only limited by your imagination,.
