Behind The Lens

Location

I took this during a layover in Chicago's O'Hare airport. We were rushing through the terminals to our gate, and I noticed it as we rushed through. Unfortunately arriving at our gate as soon as possible didn't change the fact that our flight was to be delayed overnight.

Time

This was just past midnight, and the airport was eerily quiet. It would be for another five to six hours, as we slept by the gate until our flight was ready.

Lighting

I took the photo with the lighting available at the time. The neon tubes on the ceiling turned on and off at regular intervals so I just waited for those to be all on to get the full effect.

Equipment

I used a Nikon D7000 with the Sigma 10-20mm f2.8 attached to it. Nothing else was used to take the shot

Inspiration

I didn't feel like sleeping right away, so I took the time to listen to some music and wander back to the tunnel.

Editing

I did a little bit of saturation, vibrancy and exposure adjustment to get the colors to pop just a little bit more. I was only shooting JPEG at the time, wasn't as confident in my editing skills. I've begun to take upon a RAW workflow now, so I hope to have some time to share my photos with everyone.

In my camera bag

I always try to keep an ultrawide, a standard zoom, and a telephoto on me to get a variety of shots. Normally one body when doing small jobs, but I'll have two if I can.

Feedback

Just keep your eyes and mind open, and look up and down. There's a lot more that people may not always take a second glance at.
