Location
I took this photo in Belize. At that time I was living and working in a farm in the middle of the jungle. It was a great place to take pictures of birds and other wild animals.Time
It was in the first afternoon. The sun was high in the sky and no clouds around.Lighting
The sun was high in the sky, strong light and no shadows on the ground; probably not the best condition for most photography stiles but for this particular picture was perfect. I saw the feathers of the subject reflecting the light with colors from green to purple. For that reason I decided to take the photoEquipment
I used my Nikon D800 with a 300mm f2.8 and a teleconverter X2 on a tripod.Inspiration
I got the inspiration by the wonderful colors reflected by the bird feathers. And I wanted immortalize the details of those feathers with my camera.Editing
I used some post-processing to correct the intensity of the light. I usually don't use any big post-processing; I belive that good photos are took with the eyes and the camera, not with a computer. In my camera bag
In my bag I always keep a Nikon D750 with mounted a 28-300mm f5.6, a Nikon 300mm f2.8, a teleconverter 2X and a tripod. This is all my gear.Feedback
The best way to take photos of wild animal is going in wild places. I never take photos of domestic or captive animals, taking pictures of wild animals is much more fun and satisfactory, at least when you get it. Taking this kind of photo can be really frustrating, you can stay in ambush for hours and don't get nothing. My advice is to never give up .
