Location
This image was taken on Vancouver Island within Cowichan Bay. At the time my spouse and I were staying with our in laws who's home is within walking distance from the ocean front.Time
This image was taken first thing in the morning down in the bay. There was no wind so the reflections on the water were perfect for some photography.Lighting
In this particular image the morning light was perfect, because it didn't cause blown highlights that you would normally get midday for ocean images.Equipment
The camera that I used was a Canon Rebel Xsi EOS with a EF 75-300mm Zoom lens. This image I free handed without a tripod only because I was out walking my dogs....last time they knocked my tripod over.Inspiration
The morning was perfect, quiet without a soul on the beach...just made the scene that much more magical to capture.Editing
Yes absolutely with my love of photography I also have a love of creativity. So I really enjoy applying textured layers into my work and with doing so I like to give the viewer a different perspective of a simple photograph. I either create a magical feel or an old world painted piece within my imagination. I use Photoshop Elements 8 to create my image in and can use up to 7 different textured layers to achieve the look I"m trying to accomplish. I also add a fill layer of color and gradient to my images to give some cohesiveness to my work.In my camera bag

My advice would be to always think about the mood your trying to capture with your camera. Be aware of your light and always make sure your back is to the sun. If your a creative person and enjoy editing your work experiment and play around with ideas. The wonderful thing about digital editing programs is that you have the ability to change anything and nothing you do is wrong!
