Location
I took this picture in one of Regina's parks situated within the province of Saskatchewan.Time
The day was high noon.Lighting
The reason I took this picture during the brightest light of the day was because I needed the strength of the light to permeate through the thick cloud cover. If I hadn't waited for the strong midday light my reflections on the water would have been murky and dark, and thus blending the refections within the dark water.Equipment
I used a tripod and my Canon Rebel Xsi EOS with a EF 75-300mm.Inspiration
I was inspired by the moody feel off the dark environment and looming hints of a strong downpour. The atmosphere and the exceptional reflections on the water were perfect!Editing
Yes I did do some post-processing by taking what I had captured and enhancing the dark and moody feel by applying some textured layers within the image. I only had to use two textures to get the look I was trying to achieve. One was barnacles on a boat haul and one was simply an image of black marble with white veins. I also added a fill colored layer and gradient to reposition the light. My tool of use was Photoshop Elements 8In my camera bag

With any piece of photography we take the image because we like it...but with me it's different. I look for the mood of the environment and how light can change any given scene. I enjoy having feeling come through my work and I enhance this by adding textures to my photography. So my advice would be when your out and about taking pictures...stop and really look. You might be surprised by noticing more than you expected, and enjoying your photography that much more.
