This photo was taken early in the morning in Palm City Florida outside in the front lawn of a house I was staying at.Time
The sun had just come up promising for a great sunny day. It was around 7:30 am and my daughters came outside to express their energy that every young child has on a Saturday morning. They were still in their pajamas. This shot is a once in a life time opportunity.Lighting
The lighting came from the natural sunlight that just peaked up over the horizon making for a soft light. No other light needed for this photo. I love taking photos at this time of the day because it is quit, not a whole lot of people around and the golden soft light from the sun flatters any subject.Equipment
This shot believe it or not was taken with my old rebel xt canon. This photo was taken 7 years ago and proves that the composition and a little bit of luck for being at the right place at the right time means more than having the top of the line equipment. I hand held this shot with no other flashes. A right mind and a keen eye can take you far.Inspiration
I love my daughters. Both of these girls are sisters and this photo portrays just that. They woke up with such energy so I had to get them out of the house before they woke up the others in the house. So I decided to grab my camera and snap some shots. BAM! I loved it when I first set my eyes on the photo. Till this day it is one of my favorite photos.Editing
Yes. I decided to make this photo black and white because of the colors in their pajamas they were wearing. I felt it was a distraction from the expressions of their faces. I bumped up the contrast in light room to give it more dimension. In my camera bag
I always carry extra batteries, wireless triggers, different focal length lenses, and speed lights.Feedback
Yes! In any photos you take be patient and expect to take multiple photos. When dealing with young children work around them. Don't try to pose them when they are wanting to be rambunctious. Working around them is when you will get the best candid shot you can imagine.
