Behind The Lens

Location

I took this photo when I was still working out of my home/studio and the space was so small that I had to sit on the ledge of my window just to use a prime lens.

Time

We started working around 3pm and experimented until 8pm. This make up was the last one we tried.

Lighting

We used one Vivitar speedlite for the front and one shooting through the background.

Equipment

I used a Canon 5d Mark II, Canon 85mm 1.4 and Vivitar Speedlite 285HV

Inspiration

I was inspired first by the fabric, which I had seen in a fabric store (by the way the fabric is yellow) and the day of the shoot I cut it in stripes and wrapped the model with it. The MUA asked if she could do a makeup were the eyebrows were sort of erased and I thought it was brilliant.

Editing

I played around with post-processing a lot before I got to this, considering that the fabric was yellow and the background was orange, I wanted to create an almost monochromatic experienced and then I ended up here.

In my camera bag

I carry my Canon 5d Mark II and my 85mm almost exclusively. Also a variable ND filter.

Feedback

The best advice I could offer is don't be afraid to try things that are unconventional technically, but in general try anything.
