Unfortunately, the back of Lisbon's Estação do Oriente train station isn't as pretty.
The station Estação do Oriente, also Gare do Oriente, to German: East Station, is a long-distance and regional station in the far northeast of Lisbon on the site of the former Expo 1998, today Parque das Nações. It is located on the Linha do Norte and is frequented annually by 75 million travelers.
The location allows a stop of all trains that also head to the Santa Apolónia terminus from the north, such as Porto, Coimbra and Madrid. In addition, the long-distance trains to the south of the Linha do Sul in the Algarve, which operate over the bridge of April 25, stop at the station. In the past, ferries from Comércio Square in the heart of the old town to southern southern railroad station Barreiro were needed. There are also plans to build a third Tejo bridge. This would then be used to handle the train service to the south in the future.
Below the train station there is also a metro station of the same name. Linha Vermelha provides connections to Lisbon city center and Lisbon Airport. In addition, a large bus station is integrated into the station.
