Behind The Lens

Location

I took this in the Arches National Park in Utah.

Time

10 or 11 pm. I had seen this during the day and knew it could be an awesome night photo.

Lighting

No artificial lighting was used. I took a long exposure. The light you can see to the left was some light pollution from the town of Moab, Utah.

Equipment

This was shot with a Canon R5, 16-35 F4 lense, using a 3 Legged Thing tripod (Brian model).

Inspiration

I had seen this earlier during the day. I was looking for photos that weren't the cliche photos of the Arches Park. I knew this would look awesome as a night photo so I waited excitedly the rest of the day until night finally came. One of my favorites from that motorcycle trip.

Editing

Yes as I always shoot RAW. I brought the blue more towards a deeper tone, a touch of saturation, and thats pretty much it.

In my camera bag

I never leave home without my Canon R5, 70-200 2.8, 16-35 F4, 24-70 2.8, and a nifty 50. My Dji Mavic Pro 2 ofcourse as well.

Feedback

Always have a remote shutter handy as you will have to go over the 30 sec shutter limit of most cameras. Put your camera to Bulb mode. This will allow you to keep your shutter open as long as you need. I highly suggest a sturdy tripod as well. Even with the remote shutter, I still keep a 10 second delay on to insure there is no movement from the camera or tripod. I usually start with a 1 minute exposure and adjust from there.
