Behind The Lens

Location

This photo was taken in the photography studio of the animal shelter I work in.

Time

This was taken in the afternoon but with studio lights so the time was not an issue

Lighting

Just standard studio lights with reflectors

Equipment

Nikon 5100 with an 18-55 mm Nikor lens. That and a lot of doggie cookies and a squeaker to get their attention...an absolute must for taking dog photos.

Inspiration

I had just gotten my 4th dog...a sweet little old lady dachshund (17 years old) and wanted to get a picture of all 4 of my pups.

Editing

Just a bit of cropping and Photo Shop removal of their leashes.

In my camera bag

Nikon D5100 and/or a D5500, several lenses, tons of lens wipes (puppy kisses on the lens is a standard occurrence), squeaker, lens caps, extra batteries and SD cards, a remote, and the usual flotsam that accumulates,

Feedback

Take enormous quantities of pictures in burst mode and then sift through them to find the perfect shot, one that captures the animal's personality and make sure you get that goofy, happy look. if you can.
