Behind The Lens

Location

This photo was taken outside in my front lawn/porch.

Time

This had to have been late afternoon, maybe around 5-6 pm, before it got dark.

Lighting

I love using natural light so the sun was completley out but we have a car port that covers a good amount for shade.

Equipment

Used my camera on a tripod but had my phone connected to the camera through the Canon app so I could take the photo that way using the in app shutter. In the end I believe I was using my nifty fifty, a Canon 5D Mark VI, a tripod and my phone.

Inspiration

I love playing with smoke and taking portraits. I'm a cigar smoker so taking a portrait while smoking just made sense. I'm a big time selfie whore. I love testing shots and always trying new faces whether serious or laughing.

Editing

I do my normal post-processing and this is adjusting a little bit of the photo especially when converting to black and white. This will be adjusting the contrast and some other minor details.

In my camera bag

A flash, camera body, 24-70 2.4 lens, 100-400 4.0 lens, 1.4 extender, extra batteries, extra cards and my tripod.

Feedback

Playing with smoke make sure you have a fast lens and it shows up clear. Portraits are a bit tricky sometimes but always practice. it may never come out right the first time.
