Behind The Lens

Location

The photo was taken on the coast of California, just south of Jenner. I had just gotten this 100-400mm lens, so I went for a walk to try out the new-to-me gear!

Time

If I recall correctly, this was just after noon when the coastal fog had just started to lift.

Lighting

The lighting in this photo is all natural, with the surrounding fog acting as a sort of natural diffuser.

Equipment

This was a handheld shot taken with a Canon Rebel T5 equiped with a 100-400mm lens.

Inspiration

That particular day lended itself to some really nice shots, so I thought practicing some general 'rule of thirds' compositions would be a good idea.

Editing

I made some minor adjustments in Lightroom to help pop out the two subjects in the shot.

In my camera bag

Canon 5Dsr, Canon 5diii, 50 1.2, 85 1.2 to start. I usually have two bags of gear on the back seat of my truck if I'm out shooting.

Feedback

You've gotta get used to the idea of not centering your subject in the frame.
