Location
This photo was taken during our vacation in Cozumel, Mexico.Time
It was a beautiful sunny day, around 1 pm when I saw a small group of flamingos just walking around screaming at each other :) Only these two didn’t pay any attention to the squabble.Lighting
The weather was perfect that day. I didn’t use any flash or special lighting.Equipment
This was shot with Sony NEX-5 18-55mm F/3.5-5.6 E-mount lens. No other equipment was involved. Yes, I do need to upgrade my camera :)Inspiration
I got very lucky with this shot! I didn’t have to wake up early in the morning or stay up late at night. It was always my dream to take pictures of such beautiful creatures. As soon as I got a chance - I took it.Editing
It probably took me several hours in Photoshop to achieve what I was looking for in this image. I adjusted its color, contrast and sharpness; deleted the shadows of other birds and darkened the background. I really wanted this flamingo couple to stand out. It reminded me of a human heart with its veins and arteries. It was important for me to emphasize it.In my camera bag
Usually, I pack my Sony NEX-5 camera with two kit lenses: 18-55 mm f/3.5-5.6 and 55-210 mm f/4.5-6.3., plus two sets of batteries.Feedback
Just have fun! Don’t overthink the process (like I tend to do), keep shooting and believing in yourself.
