I took the photo at the Blankenberge western pier at sunset.Time
I went to take a look in the late afternoon. I knew the tide wasn't really right, but had a feeling the sun would set nicely. I decided to wait and at one moment I decided to take some pictures. This one kind of suprised me and I kept it and decided to publish it.Lighting
I wanted to show the picture as its was, so I had to use a polariser, a NDsoft grad. Later I added a little stopper to get more flow in the water. Ik had to use some light compensation to create the somewhat mysterie touch in the photo.Equipment
I used a Nikon D800 with a 24-70mm f:2,8 Nikon lens, Jobu tripod, manfrotto geared head and Lee filtersInspiration
I passed there a couple of times and decided to return with some good conditions. One evening I decided to go and take a look and took the picture.Editing
I shoot in RAW of course, so some post processing has to be done. A little contrast, some sharpening, some shadows, just the basic thingsIn my camera bag
I never leave home without at least one body. On this evening, I just took my D800 and 24-70 lens. The Lee filters are always in my bag, and normally I also carry a D5 and 70-200 f/2,8 Nikon lens. In a special case in my care I always keep a 600mm f/4 and 300mm f/2,8 and some more stuffFeedback
You just have to go back to the same place several times and just wait for the right conditions. Never give up and be patient.
