Behind The Lens

Location

I took this photo on a trail run overlooking San Michele in the Italian dolomites.

Time

There was about an hour worth of sunlight left so I decided to go for a run before it was dark. When I saw this scene I had to stop for a couple minutes and snap a shot!

Lighting

I knew I wouldn’t be able to do a ton with the lighting because I was shooting on an iPhone so I was really focused on the subject and framing.

Equipment

This was shot on an iPhone X. Since I was out on a run, I didn’t have time to go back and get my DSLR before dark and had to rely on what I had on me.

Inspiration

The breathtaking view made me stop in my tracks. I could just imagine sitting on this bench all day without the view ever getting old!

Editing

I did some editing in Lightroom but kept it to a minumum due to the picture quality coming from an iPhone.

In my camera bag

Normally I carry, a Nikon D3300 with an 18-55mm and a 55-200mm lens. I also typically carry both a macro and a 58 mm Moment phone lens.

Feedback

I always enjoy the lighting for about and hour after sunrise and an hour before sunset, so I usually go out shooting then. For something like this photo though, someone needs a little bit of luck! I was very fortunate to stumble upon this amazing view.
