Location
This picture of Key Monastery was taken during my recent visit to Spiti Valley in Himachal Pradesh, India.Time
We reached this place by 4:30 PM in the evening.Lighting
Lighting wasn't great when I reached the place. It was a cloudy day and was raining intermittently. Wanted to shoot this picture with a clear sky in the background. But had to work with what nature throws at you. However the clouds, rain in the background and the mountains added more layers to this image.Equipment
Nikon D750, Nikon 24-120mm F4Inspiration
Have seen lot of pictures of this monastery with a nice blue sky in the background taken by photographers. Wanted to shoot a similar pic which required a bit of climbing to reach a good vantage point. High altitude and low oxygen makes even a short walk or climb more difficult.Editing
After doing basic adjustment in Lightroom, I used Silver effex pro to convert the image into B/W.In my camera bag
Nikon D750 with Nikon 24-120mm F4Feedback
I had to underexpose the foreground in order to get the correct exposure for the background. We can always bring out the details of shadows during post-processing but we cannot get the details if the image is overexposed.
