Behind The Lens

Location

Taken in the streets of Johannesburg, South Africa

Time

We were shooting in the streets and it was getting slightly overcast when I spotted the light in the street, I thought it would make a great contrast to the black top she was wearing. Taken at around 3pm.

Lighting

This is a basic one light setup, slightly to the left of her.

Equipment

Canon Mk 5 RS, 85mm f/1.2 off camera flash.

Inspiration

Just a plain old model portfolio shoot.

Editing

Very little, I shoot in RAW only so there is only a slight colour adjustment.

In my camera bag

A Canon 5D S and 5D Mark IV with 35mm, 50mm 85mm and 135mm prime Canon lenses. Two off camera flashes.

Feedback

Walk around and look at the environment and find a background to place the model in rather than try place a background behind the model. In otherwords look at lighting, colour, framing etc before the model even gets there.
