A single wild onion stalk. They are also known as wild garlic, or meadow onions-garlic.
These grow wild in many parts of the US and are sometimes considered an invasive species or weed. You can eat them, they are quite edible. I read somewhere that if it looks and smells like an onion or a garlic then it is edible. If it looks like an onion or garlic but has no smell, then it is likely toxic.
At this stage it is starting to open and you can see the little wild onions growing inside. When matured, they will drop to the ground and re-seed the area.
