Behind The Lens

Location

This photo was taken in the Scottish Highlands, by the rural hamlet of Glenfinnan. The viaduct is famous for its role in a popular magical movie collection and stands proud and picturesque against the rugged hillside.

Time

I visited the area around mid -afternoon but in the depths of the cold Scottish winter there wasn't a soul around to share the moment.

Lighting

I wanted the image to show the true colours of the landscape. Luckily the haze from earlier in the day had lifted and I managed to get this lovely clears shot.

Equipment

I am an extremely basic photographer, with no special training or equipment. I took this photo using my old iPhone SE camera phone. They're was no tripod or special lenses, just a fairly steady hand and plenty of luck.

Inspiration

I've always loved the Highlands for its rugged beauty and magical landscapes; throw-in this viaduct's connection to the Harry Potter work it was a shot I enjoyed taking even more.

Editing

Aside from sharpening the image slightly using snapseed, this photo has received no significant post-processing

In my camera bag

Just my trusty camera phone

Feedback

Step away from the crowd, look for a different angle and don't just get caught up in the photography, enjoy the moment
