Amazing capture. We made the mistake of staying in Ryk each night so didn't see as much of the country. where was this taken?

This image captures a sense of another kingdom. Away in the distance. A good image no composite. Gosh i hate composites. Could be a good B&W with some dep contrast in the sky! Well done

Location
This is place is called Vestrahorn, it is located in the south of Iceland. This beautiful black beaches has a great view of the 454-meter-high mountain. it is a well-known mountain for a lot of photographers, but I was surprised that I was to only one there at the time.Time
This was taken on 21 June , so one of the longest days, being in Iceland means that is doesn’t really get dark. This photo was taken in the beginning of the afternoon. When I arrived it was partly sunny, the photo I had in mind was with a clear blue sky. So I decided to wait a bit to see if the weather would change. In the end the weather indeed did change, although not in the direction that I had hoped for. But the cloudy sky now makes this photo more dramatic. So, in the end it turned out for the best.Lighting
I actually hoped for a clear sky, the grass would have been more vibrant when the sun was out. This would brighten the foreground and gives the photo a little bit more depth. but the current light gives this photo a more dramatic look, which I think works very well.Equipment
I used a Canon EOS 5D MK II, with the 17-40mm F/4 lens. I had to travel light, so I didn’t bring along a tripod...Inspiration
This is just one of the places you have to visit when you’re in Iceland.Editing
This photo didn’t require a whole lot of post processing, just the normal camera raw conversion with a little bit of colour corrections. In my camera bag
Canon EOS 5D MKII, with my three main lenses; the 17-40 F/4 that I used for this photo, a 27-70mm F/2.8 and my tele lens 100-400mm F/4.5-5.6. For trips like this, I also take along a Dell XPS13 for storage, and to view the images on a somewhat bigger screen.Feedback
The weather can change very fast in Iceland. So be patience and wait for the right time. But don’t sit there and just wait, take some photos. Sometimes the weather/lighting conditions that you are waiting for do not provide you with the nice shot that you might have expected.
