Location
I took this photo at home while we were at the dining table.Time
My daughter was painting her fingernails about mid-afternoon and the light coming in from the window looked really nice.Lighting
There is really nothing complex about the lighting in this photo. The window light really just bathed her in a complimentary fashion. She is probably about 5 feet away from the light source.Equipment
Camera: Nikon D610 f/2.8 Nikon 80-200 mm lens @ 200 mm Aperture f/2.8 Shutter: 1/200? ISO 640?Inspiration
You only get chance to capture special moments when your kids are growing up. Keeping a camera by my side for these types of moments is something I have done for many years now. I purposely omitted the eyes and upper part of the face to 1 - focus on the painting of the fingernails and 2 - to add interest to the photo.Editing
No post workIn my camera bag
I normally have my D750 with a sigma 70-200mm. Over the years of shooting, I've learned that I traditionally like tighter shots and tighter crops.Feedback
If you want to make something interesting, show only part of it. In the case of this photo, you can only see part of the face. It tends to hold the attention of viewers longer and sparks curiousity.
