Behind The Lens

Location

In our Wisconsin home on the last night of Chanukah

Time

Evening- before bedtime. :)

Lighting

I believe I had the light on in the room behind me, but the best light obviously came from the candles.

Equipment

Canon Rebel t2i with a 35mm f/2 lens

Inspiration

Our interfaith family celebrates both December holidays. The year this was taken was the first time they both really understood. I had taken a staged photo highlighting both holidays for our holiday card, but it was this photo, taken just as part of our holiday evening, that turned out the best and really captured the joy of our kids' celebrations.

Editing

Yes, just some sharpening and contrast, as well as a bit of vignette.

In my camera bag

I just bought a Canon 5D Mark III. I have my 35mm, a Tamron 28-75, and a Canon speedlight.

Feedback

As I mentioned above, I'd tried a staged photo for our cards, but the genuineness of the actual moment resulted in a far better picture than me trying to set up the perfect setting, props and lighting. :)
