Location
Up in the mountains in the North of Italy. One of best places where to get pictures of stars as the lights from towns and barely visible there.Time
It was half past midnight. We wanted the milkyway to be exactly at the top of the waterfall.Lighting
We chose the location in the afternoon, we then set up the lights and tripods and we waited until midnight just to take this picture. We took about 10 shots of the milky way that night, all amazing.Equipment
We used a Nikon D750 set to 3200 iso in manual mode with a 20mm nikkor and an exposure of 20 seconds. We also tried few shots at 15 seconds to avoid the stars trail which are unfortunately quite visible in this image.Inspiration
We wanted to take a great picture of the milkyway with a strong meaning: milkyway into water; from space to earth. The only regret we had is that the center of the galaxy was not visible but lower on the horizon and hidden by the waterfall.Editing
Post processing is paramount for milkyway photography. I used both lightroom and photoshop with the main scope to enhance the milkyway keeping it as real as possible. In my camera bag
My Nikon D750 and my fab 24-70 is always in my bag. I love street photography and there's always a chance to get a nice picture in London.Feedback
A part from the equipment: high iso digital camera, a fast wide lens and a good tripod; it's very important to find a place that offers a good subject and where light pollution is minimal. I also found it very useful to know where the milkyway will be at a specific time, using VR apps like photopills.
