Location
For this photo I choose to use a boutique hotel who offered me the best scene for this shooting.Time
Although outside it was the beginning of the winter and that evening was quite snowy, the cozy ambiance of the hotel apartment was perfect for this project.Lighting
Because I wanted to keep as much as possible the worm light given by the nightstand lamp, I choose to work with only two studio flashes. The key light was fitted with a 70 mm beauty dish reflector which had a honeycomb grid on in order to direct most of the light towards the model. The filling light came from another flash that had a snoot mounted.Equipment
Because the space was large enough, I decided to use my Nikkor 85 mm f/1.8 lens together with a Nikon D750 camera.Inspiration
Most of the times when I chose to work on a portraits project, I debate the theme together with my team of make-up artist and the hair stylist, because we look for perfection in all the photos that we make. This is how we decided to make this particular photo and of course the ambiance was a great deal of inspiration for us.Editing
The post processing on this photo was minimal simply because the make-up artist did a great job and also because the model is quite young and her skin was in perfect share. The simple light scheme also helped me a lot and I truly say that I am in love with the light given by a beauty dish with a honeycomb grid on. Nevertheless, a few actions in Photoshop were necessary just to add a little bit more contrast or to adjust the color temperature. In my camera bag
Working mainly portraits, prime lens are always in my bag. By far the Nikon 85 mm f/1.8 is my favorite but also the 50 mm f/1.8 lens from Nikon is doing a great job. Sometimes it happens to work an entire project only with my Nikon 24-90 mm f/2.8 lens mounted on my Nikon 750. As for tele-lenses, I always have a Sigma 70-200 mm f/2.8 in my bag, a lens that I mainly use it for outdoor portrait sessions.Feedback
Imagination, self confidence and boldness are the key ingredients of a successful boudoir project. And the most important aspect of all, is the team work. I suggest all of you who wants to embrace this kind of photography, to build up a great team of Make-up artist, hair stylist and a photo assistant.
