Location
This was taken on a day's cross country ski trip at Falls Creek, Australia.Time
It was a fairly dull day and it had snowed the previous day. This was taken in the middle of the day.Lighting
I skied past it on the way out and thought it looked good so had to stop on the way back and take photos. The dull lighting helped with no harsh shadows and gentle light on the mounds.Equipment
I used a Panasonic FZ30 with a built in zoom lens.Inspiration
I loved the dead tree and it was set off by the appealing mounds of snow. It all made for a very simple composition.Editing
Just a little dodging and burning. In my camera bag
I have since upgraded to a Canon cropped sensor camera but sometimes I miss my simple Panasonic that was very easy to use. However an ability to take photos in low light without noise had me upgrading.Feedback
Just keep your eyes open for what appeals and then take lots of different photos from different angles and settings to find the best one.
