Last night I stayed at YHA Pwll Deri, a beautiful hostel on the south west coast of Wales.
Knowing I would be well away from any light pollution, I set my alarm for 1:30am with the hope of some dark, clear skies and a blanket of stars.. to my amazement thats exactly what I saw as I looked out the window.
I took a walk towards the sea armed with my D800 & 14mm 2.8, I let my eyes adjust and soon noticed the milky way was actually parralel with the horizon right behind the hostel. (I've only ever shot the MW when its in a more vertical position) this enabled me to shoot landscape and cover a wider scope of the MW and its dust lanes.
Camera info: D800 20 sec f2.8 iso-6400 14mm 3600K
