Location
This image was made at a private automobile collection, owned by a friend of my wife's. The collection is a suburb of Seattle.Time
Afternoon. There was very little window light, but the "barn" the collection is in had great, even artificial lighting.Lighting
As is the case with many "serious" collections, the owner had carefully set up lighting to showcase his automobiles. There were a few that I used a speedlight to augment the ambient light, but for the most part, I shot available light.Equipment
Nikon D70, handheld. No flash used for this image.Inspiration
I love to shoot pictures of vehicles! The color, wonderful lines, and simplicity of this composition drew me to the subject.Editing
Just the "usual" - color correction, a little cropping, and sharpening. This take early on in my digital photography days, so I used Photoshop Elements. (I now use both Capture One and Elements for post-production.)In my camera bag
Current kit: Sony A7RIII, Sony 24-105 f/4 (my workhorse), Sony 70-300, Nissan speedlight, Peak Design neckstrap, extra batteries.Feedback
Spend time in your environment to get a "feel" for your subject(s). I'm sure others have already said this, but I often feel like a hunter in the woods, taking time to absorb the environment - sights, sounds, smells, feel, etc. Doing that attunes and hightens your senses.
