Behind The Lens

Location

I've made this photo in the bathroom of my private house…

Time

It was during the afternoon. If I remember correctly, we started around 1 pm and finished at around 5:30 pm.

Lighting

The lighting was fairly simple. I've bounced one strobe on the white sealing of the bathroom and worked with the reflecting light.

Equipment

I used a Nikon D4 with a nikkor lens 85 mm f/1.4 and one Elinchrom RX600 strobe.

Inspiration

I've seen many images passing on the internet with this subject and I liked the idea. Unfortunately I've seen more images on the subject which I didn't like because they didn't have nice lighting or the girl was posing in a manner I didn't like or it was too nude… Anyway, I felt like giving it a try and It came out almost exactly as I had it in mind.

Editing

I adjusted some basic setting (contrast, saturation…), cleaned up the skin and the 'milk'.

In my camera bag

I have two camera's, nikon D4 and D810; nikkor fixed lenses 50 mm, 60 mm (macro) 85 mm; zoom lenses 14-24 mm, 24-70 mm and 70-200 mm; all lenses are f/1.4 or f/2.8; tripod; monopod; a flashlight; and some small stuff…

Feedback

Try different lighting settings, don't put hot water in the bathtub otherwise the model will start sweating and the make-up will be messed up.
