I had a really hard time choosing a winner for my leaf challenge because there were sooo many beautiful options to choose from!

In the end I chose this one as my challenge winner because of the backlighting that showcased the leaf in all it's detail. Congrats!

Thank you so much Ronda, for choosing my pic to be the challenge winner! :) Yes, the backlighting did the trick and caught my attention. Apart from the detailing I love the natural symmetry of veins and the glowinng border line.

Location
This photo of the backlit leaf showing the amazing symmetry of veins was clicked when I was picnicking in the local countryside near Mumbai.Time
The photo was clicked in the afternoon of 24 August 2014. It was rainy season in India, so there was lots of greenery around.Lighting
On this particular day, the sky was clear and it was a pleasant sunny day with natural bright light. An ideal condition for photography. While walking on a trail to our picnic spot, this particular leaf caught my attention. The natural backlighting did the trick. Though majority of light was coming from behind, there was enough ambient light to capture details such as shape and veins of the leaf.Equipment
While taking this photo, I was carrying my Nikon D3200 with Nikkor 18-55mm, f/3.5-5.6G lens. No other equipment was used while clicking this photo.Inspiration
Nature is amazing. Apart from the detailing, I love the near perfect symmetry of veins. The beautiful silver lining or the glowing border line make it more appealing. There is nice bokeh created by light passing through the leaves of a tree behind. I just couldn't have missed the opportunity to capture it.Editing
For this photo I did some basic edits like color enhancement, brightness, contrast and bit of sharpening using Nikon viewNX2.In my camera bag
I have been using Nikon D3200 with Nikkor 18-55mm, f/3.5-5.6G lens since 2 years. Recently I have added Nikkor 50mm f/1.8G and Nikkor 70-300mm f/4.5-5.6G lens in my kit.Feedback
Photography is all about capturing moments, colors, shapes, textures, details. Most important part is the lighting. One of the strengths of backlight is that it emphasizes shape. If there is not enough ambient light to capture the details in the foreground you can use fill flash or a reflector. Also, it is really helps if we are observant of the things around us. Even in ordinary simple things there is an opportunity for a beautiful click, such as this leaf.
