Our skipper of the tourist boat that accommodates only 6 photographers, leaves at first light. After clearing customs and paid the necessary fees we ventured into the many many waterways. We arrived at this particular spot around 0900 and immediately saw quite a few Jacanas. As you may know, soon after birth the mother leaves the chicks in the care of the father. He would nurse these chicks for about 3 days and they they venture off to find food. This chick obviously saw his happy meal on the leaf and jumped up to collect it. It happened so fast my shot of that was a total blurLighting
Our skipper new exactly where the sun was and parked the boat to allow us optimum exposure to the birdsEquipment
I use a Canon 5D Mk111 and used a 70-200mm lens. No flash used. For this hot at sat flat on the deck to be a eye levelInspiration
The story about the father raising the chicks is well known in the area and for any photographer it's a bucket list shot. Interesting to is that when the father wants to "move" the chicks, he gathers them under his wings and fly to a spot where more food may be availableEditing
Very little. Photoshop for cropping, a little satuartion and a little sharpening. Remember I use Canon !!!!!!In my camera bag
Canon 5D Mk 111 plus my older Canon 7D, 24-70mm, 24-105mm, and my 70-200 mm lensesFeedback
