Behind The Lens

Location

The photo was taken in my downstairs bathroom in Hampton VA. I am a self-taught or self-learning photographer.

Time

This photo was taken on June 13, 2013 at 11:08pm.

Lighting

I just used the regular bathroom lighting and since it was shot at night it kept the outside window glare to a minimum.

Equipment

This photo was shot with a Nikon P310 24-100mm f/1.8-f/4.9 lens.

Inspiration

It was getting later at night and I couldn't get to sleep and nothing good was on TV. So like always I started thinking of photo ideas. I always liked the Refection back and forth into itself of the tri mirror medicine cabinet in the bathroom. So if I could just find a way to make it more interesting, that’s when I threw myself into the mix and tried to make it a different kind of selfie.

Editing

The only type of post-processing was slight white balance adjustment and converting from color to black and white.

In my camera bag

I always have three cameras with me. My Nikon P310 24-100mm f/1.8-f/4.9 lens, which is my go to for just about anything in a pinch. It has a fast boot time It’s small, light but mighty. I love that camera! A Fuji HS30EXR 24-720mm f/2.8-5.6 lens, great all in one bridge camera with a long battery life :). Finally My Pentax K-30 body, with Pentax DAL 18-55mm f/3.5-5.6, Pentax DAL 55-300mm f/4-5.8 and my never leave home without it Sigma 70-300mm f/4-5.6 APO DG Macro.

Feedback

Just try to think outside of the box. Sometimes when you are all out of ideas that’s when some of the most creative things come to you. Also take photos, the worst thing that can happen is that you don't like it (then delete it) the best is you love it. But you'll never know until you try.
