Peaceful sunrise on Haida Gwaii. As i was taking this photo I was thinking back to a time long ago when the shores were loaded with Haida Canoes just like this one. This is how an ancient Haida Village would have looked like as the morning sun was rising hauntingly beautiful.

Location
I took this photo here on Haida Gwaii in front of The Haida Heritage Center.Time
It was a beautiful Autumn Moring. Sunrises here on Haida Gwaii are magical in the Autumn months. The sun is as orange as the fall leaves.Lighting
I love to work with the natural light, so every morning about 5:00 am I head out the door with my camera. It's an incredible time of the day, so peaceful, just me and birds are up.Equipment
I used my Nikon D7100,no tripod, as I don't use one to often I find they limit what I can do.Inspiration
I was inspired by the Canoe, and the beautiful morning sunlight lighting a path on the Ocean's surface to the canoe. I felt our ancestors on the beach on this beautiful morning. My mind drifted back to what it must've looked like years ago as canoes and longhouses lined the shoreline.Editing
The only processing I do is to make the photo look exactly as I seen no more. I sharpen it or lift the shadows adjusting the lighting etc. I try to capture a photo the needs vey little adjusting. In my camera bag
I only have the Nikon D7100 in the bag and my main lens is the 300mm.I have a great imagination too which I use.Feedback
To capture a moment like this, get up early head out the door. You really have to feel it to capture it. Enjoy yourself use your imagination and it will all come together to create a beautiful image.
