Lighting is all natural. Perfect time of day for partial interior shots, where there are no shadows and very even lighting [no hot spots or blackouts]. light came from the left here, through the bricked archways.Equipment
Sony Mavica MVC-CD500 [an old disc camera using MP3 discs for 5MP pictures] f/2.8 on a Zeiss lens shutter speed 10/800 ISO-100Inspiration
I was struck by the PERFECT construction of this structure. Built by British prisoners while a penal colony, the workers did not eat if their work wasn't "plumb", or architecturally aligned. An amazing feat considering they were a continually rotated [added to while others were removed], totally unskilled workforce in barbaric conditions-oppressive heat buffered with severe storms!! So I wanted to show how architecturally perfect this structure was, and used a slight [45 degree] sideward lean and flexed knees to show as much of the building as possible. This Fort has a few hundred archways and a lighthouse, all perfectly aligned and is a true sight to behold!!! Still standing strong after over 100 years in the severe weather!!! The Park Service does a GREAT tour of this facility!!Editing
Yes. Cropping and mild tone mapping after converting the scene from color to black and white. In my camera bag
I no longer use the disc cameras. I have a Canon 70D, a Nikon D5500 w/18-55 and 55-300mm lenses and I just got a Canon 5D SR. I have a Sigma 8-16mm, a Sigma 150-500mm and a Sigma 85mm lens, all of which fit the Canon Cameras. 6 batteries for each camera and a half dozen 128GB SD XC 1 chipsFeedback
Don't box yourself into copying anybody else's style. BE YOURSELF,THINK and BE CREATIVE. Shoot what you feel in a situation, and LEARN TO SEE THINGS BY BEING A TRAINED OBSERVER! You can have the best cameras in the world but if you can't "SEE" what you're looking at, your pics will look like they were taken from a point-n-shoot $50 special [WHICH, by the way, can be used to take award winning shots if you know what to look for!]
