Location
this was taken during a piece of theatre, using a strobe over 17 seconds.Time
this was taken in the evening, my daughter was taking part in this dance and I thought that the shot would be better taken over time with a strobe. it turned out somewhat better than my previous and other attempts.Lighting
I was lucky here, had been lent a small strobe, still haven't bought one myself, otherwise I prefer available light, its more expressiveEquipment
this was shot with my Nikon, Aperture f/5.6?ISO 180?Shutter on manual till I released.. hand held (no tripod)..Inspiration
Watching my daughter dancing, I was finding my shots somewhat static, and thought I'd try to get some movement into the pictureEditing
I trimmed the shot - there was some periferic noise that I didn't likeIn my camera bag
I've 3 old lenses from my F2 that I've kept for 40+ years now..Feedback
take as many pictures as you can (easy now with digital, unlike back in the day when even rolling your own spools blocked you after a few dozen shots), play with the aperture and timing and practice hand-held - forget about "auto".. its far more fun
