Absolutely fantastic shot. What a photo:) It’s like you took a fine art still photographed during an action scene. Beautiful

All the info is in the EXIF. I use a Sony a9 and a 135mm f1.8. Thank you!

Amazing shot! I love that gloomy, magical yet muted coloring in the background making the pup pop

Location
This picture was taken in a forest. Mid-winter when all the green was gone, with not a lot of light available it made for a strong mood. The forest almost felt like a creepy place, it had very noticeable atmosphere going on at that moment. All I had to do was to find a straight path with symmetrical plants on each sideTime
Just about mid-day, on a dark cloudy day.Lighting
It's just natural light. Noting fancy going on. I did underexposed a bit to conserve the white parts of the dog's furEquipment
I used a Sony A9 and my 135mm f1.8 GM (shot wide open)Inspiration
I only knew I wanted to make a photo of a running dog. The rest of the ideas came when I saw the forest.Editing
When I discovered the path used for this image, I suddenly had the image in my mind. There already was barely any color in the forest and it was a very cold day. To emphasise on this within the image I desaturated it a bit more, but added a few hints of colder colours. The lighting effect is mostly artificial, it's part of my signature editing but on this image it worked out unusually well! It makes it so incredibly dramatic, moody and adds so much depth! It absolutely captured the essence of the vide that I felt when walking in that forest. In my camera bag
When Im planning for a action photo i only bring my a9 and the 135mm f1.8 GM. It's all I need for shots like this. I do also have a a7riii, 17-28 f2.8, 24mm f1.4 gm, 35mm f1.8 and 85mm f1.8, but those are for different kind of photos.Feedback
I would start by ensuring yourself that you are able to get a sharp photo of a small, fast moving subject that's moving straight towards the camera. Important here is to photograph with a small depth of field.(aperture wide open!) This makes the result look pretty but also adds difficulty of getting focus on exactly the right place; the eyes. To get this right it's important to have the right equipment and practice, practice, practice, and patience. Keep trying!
