Location
By Vindelälven just 700 meters from center of Vindeln town. Vindeln's urban area is built on the Vindelälven river. A municipality that was born during the beginning of the 16th century. Two rivers flow through the municipality, the Umeälven and the Vindelälven. During the 1970s, the people protested against the expansion of hydropower in the Vindelälven, which now is one of Sweden's four national rivers. It flows freely from the start until it joins the Umeälven in another municipality. Vindelälven has been of great importance to the town economically during the logg-driving period. Today it has a recreational function and the hiking trail runs on both sides of the river. The community has contributed with lighting and the municipality maintains the bridges and the area has become a nature conservation area. The trail has several places where you can stop to rest in a wind shelter and/or grill on a fire pit that has been set up. There is a campsite on the east side of the river where the trail passes. There's also an old mill that now is a place for art and craft exhibitions. The miller's residence is turned in to a café.Time
After a couple of cloudy days and some snow, there was a thin layer like cotton over everything. So waking up on Sunday and seeing the sun made me happy. Every minute of sun is precious as I live in Västerbotten, Sweden and on this particular day the sun was up for just over four hours so I really wanted to enjoy and take advantage of the sunshine. So the picture was taken the 14th of december at 12:24, UTC+1Lighting
The sun is on it's way down despite the time of day. It gives a warm glow to the surroundings while the unlit parts emphasize the coldness.Equipment
I leaned against a tree for support. OLYMPUS IMAGING CORP. E-500 ƒ/6,3 1/50 45 mm ISO 100Inspiration
I have walked "Broarna runt" (around the bridges) so many times. And rarely does everything "click" for luck to get a good photo. Many occasions have been without a camera so I took a chance this day. Over all the nature here is fantastic. I never get tired seeing all the different sceneries. The sound from the river Vindelälven is soothing for my soul and time does not excist when walking here.Editing
I haven't done any post-processing. Maybe I adjusted the light a bit.In my camera bag
Not much more than the camera with the lens 14 - 45 mm and the lens 40 - 150 mm and an extra battery. The lighter the better.Feedback
Keep your eyes open and the camera with you. You never know when you get the opportunity... ;-)
