Location
I rented a studio in Boston that had a cyclorama.Time
The dancer is a soloist with Boston Ballet. This was taken during the Covid pandemic so all precautions were taken. I was so looking forward to this shoot. It's rare to have such an accomplished dancer be available for a shootLighting
The studio rental included Einstein strobes - however, the trigger was not working. Luckily I brought a few strobes of my own (profoto) so I was savedEquipment
My favorite studio camera is a Nikon D850 which is what I used. As I mentioned one strobe was a Profoto B10 and I was able to fire one of the studio's Einstein using optical slave modeInspiration
I'm not a ballet performance aficionado - but I love to photograph ballet. It captures that one peak momentEditing
Pretty much straight out of the camera. I use Capture One for Raw processingIn my camera bag
I always have 2 camera bodies with an assortment of lenses. I love to tether to Capture One. It helps to avoid mistakes and lets you make changesFeedback
Work with the dancer. They are true professionals and only want photos displayed that show perfect form. I had an agreement with the dancer to never publish anything she didn't approve
