Location
The Photo was taken at the River Irthing in Cumbria, England and a major tributary of the River Eden. The river flows through the Irthing Gorge, flanked by mainly sandstone crags. Within the upper section of this gorge, 3km from Gilsland, lies the spectacular 7.6 metre (25 feet) Crammel Linn waterfall. Peregrine falcons and ravens nest near the waterfall and derelict military structures, probably pump-houses supplying water for the Blue Streak rocket site at RAF Spadeadam, can be seen just upstream. The waterfall consists of two falls that flow as one during rainy seasons, the picture represented is of the smaller left side fall.Time
The picture was taken around mid afternoon on a spring day with slight cloud.Lighting
The weather was good for an English springtime, some slight cloud and the weather was warm with mainly sunshine which assisted with the natural light needed for the shotEquipment
The shot was taken on my old canon 400D with the standard lens and uv filter mounted on a tripod, A long exposure seeting was used to achieve the correct effectInspiration
Waterfalls are always beautiful to photograph, fast flowing and falling water. taking shots in normal and the inspired shots of long exposure are always worth the end resultEditing
very little post processing was done, mostly checking forecasts and locations and accessibility, the rest just comes with it, patience is needed to achieve the right shotIn my camera bag
my currant camera is a canon 600d, with a small range of lenses, canon 24mm/50mm, 18-55mm,100-200mm and a Tamron 70-300mm. I also have flash rings and a tripodFeedback
The best advice is patience, research of you intended location, weather checks and patience, it takes time to get the manual settings correct for the light, a tripod and a remote switch with an adjustable uv filter is all you need as extras and your ready to go
