I took this photo in my backyard. I love to take photos because it helps ease my depression and is a huge creative outlet. Wanting to capture something new is what drives me outside. Also my dogs (2 German Shepherds, 1 Pit bull) are amazing models and I love to see them happy and playful.Time
Sunrise.Lighting
It was such a beautiful sunrise but the fog and low clouds quickly started moving in. I wasn’t sure how to capture it as I saw it with the naked eye so I did my best and tried many settings manually.Equipment
I used my new Nikon Z6. This is the very first mirrorless camera I have owned. My previous camera was a Nikon d5000 and I used that for 12 years solely and rarely used anything but auto setting because I was intimidated.Inspiration
I was out back with my dogs on a walk, I almost always have my camera with me. I walked out on the dock and saw how beautiful the sunrise looked with the low clouds. I was determined to capture it just as I saw it.Editing
Honestly I am not good at editing my photos. I use my iPhone to help me edit. I don’t know how to splice together two photos so I do the best I can to bring out the best lighting in the photo. In my camera bag
My Nikon Z6 with a mid-range lens, a zoom lens, two extra batteries and a lens cleaning cloth.Feedback
Don’t be afraid to to use the manual setting; give yourself time to try and retry as many times as needed to get the shot.
