Location
I took this photograph in the streets of Reus town, very close to Tarragona city, in the Catalonia (Spain).Time
It was very late at night, probably 10 pm.Lighting
It was shot naturally, without any artificial light as flashes. Just me and my f1.4 lens. I had to get close enought to get light enought for the picture. So close the sparks burned a part of my t-shirt.Equipment
Camera: Canon Rebel T3i Lens: Sigma Art f1.4 // 30mm No tripod No flashInspiration
I was walking and taking pictures of the beautiful town of Reus when suddently all the headlights were turned off. I was kind of confused when 2 minutes later I saw kids running trough the streets of the town with those fireworks. I talked with some locals and they explained me this is a tradition of the catalan people. I stayed in the center of the town for hours taking pictures of this parade - dance.Editing
Yes, I managed the highlights, shadows, contrast, and some settings by the RAW editor of Photoshop, but always conserving the nature of the photograph. I have the raw file as a prove. In my camera bag
Always: Lens: Sigma Art 1.4, 30mm. Camera: Canon Rebel T3i. Extra battery pack. Almost always Lens: standar teleobjetive Canon 75-300 standar angular Canon 18-55 Sometimes: A little flash Canon Speedlite 320 EX. A little tripod from a local trademark.Feedback
Forget the tripod, put the camera on your hands, calculate the focal distance before your character walks in, and wait him to pass by there. Then, shot at this precisely moment.
